Travel Boutique Online buys stake in Deyor Camps

NEW DELHI: Travel Boutique Online, a travel portal backed by Naspers, has taken a strategic equity stake in Deyor Camps, a chain of branded adventure camps in India. Travel Boutique Online, which has more than 19,000 agents, and Deyor Camps will cross-sell each other’s products and offerings.

Deyor Camps was founded by Dheeraj Jain, who is also a partner at UK-based hedge fund Redcliffe Capital, Chirag Gupta, Aakaar Gandhi and Gautam Yadav. The company said that Travel Boutique Online will enable its partners to sell branded campsites at more than 45 locations in India.

“DeyorCamps has been instrumental in sending 10,000 people for camping during its first quarter of operations. With Travel Boutique Online as our strategic partner, we will be able to reach out to its well established database of consumers who trust the company and its travel agents,” said Jain.

“The value proposition offered by Deyor Camps is unmatched in this market,” said Ankush Nijhawan, MD of Travel Boutique Online.

Gupta, who is also CEO of Gurgaon-based Deyor Camps, said the company is days away from launching a technology platform that will make booking a camping trip as simple as reserving a hotel room, structuring a highly fragmented sector.

The startup aims at expanding into the neighbouring south and Southeast Asia to leverage demand for alternative accommodation. Deyor has signed three-year exclusive contracts with over 100 main campsites in 45 locations and an additional 75 campsites. Its target is 300 campsites by the end of the year.
